Baccarat

• In the long run, the odds favor the casino and no betting system can change this. Yet this does not mean that a system can not work perfectly in the short run.


• What makes the 1-3-2-6 system most attractive is that you only need to bet 2 units for a chance to win 10 units. This way you can win a handsome profit with minimal effort.


• On the first wager bet one unit (eg. 1 Euro). If you win, bet the first unit plus the winnings and add a unit so that your 2nd wager is 3 units. If you also win the second bet, you have 6 units. Now keep 4 units so that your third wager is 2 units. If you win, also on the 3rd bet bet your winnings plus your basic bet and add 2 units so that your fourth wager will be 6 units. If you win on the 4th bet you get a total of 12 units which is a profit / gain of 10 units!


• If you lose the first bet you have a net loss of 1 unit. If you win the first, but lose the second, you have a net loss of 2 units. If you win the 2nd bet, but lose the 3. bet you have a net profit of 2 units. If you win the first 3 bets but lose the fourth, you are back at square one.

Why does the house have an advantage of over 5% in Caribbean Stud Poker?
The dealer has no advantage when it comes to cards. There is a 50-50 chance who gets the best hand. The downside for the player comes from the betting structure. You must wager 3 x your Ante (Your Ante plus the stake) to retain your hand. When the dealer does not qualify (about 44% of the time) you will win just the sum of your Ante. In addition, you must sacrifice your Ante if you throw your hand.

Some players think they can win a few extra Euro by "bluffing" sometimes. First, one must realize that there is no such thing as a real bluff in Caribbean Stud Poker. Nothing you do can affect the dealer's game. In this context, a bluff means that the player bets on a poor hand with the hope that the dealer does not qualify in order to win the Ante.

This is a very bad move. The dealer qualifies 56% of the time. If we assume that a fake hand is always worse than Ace-King, who is the dealer's qualifying hand, the one who bluffs loses 56% of the time. Remember that you lose not only your ante, but also the stake, which is twice the Ante's value.
Let's look at the expected outcome of this daring move:
E = [0.44 x (+1)] + [0.56 x (-3)] = -1.24
The bluffing player loses 24 cents more than he would have lost if he had sacrificed only his 1 Euro ante by throwing his game on the bad hand.

Let it Ride

To play optimally in Let It Ride it all boils down to deciding whether to "stand" at the two crucial points in the game. Let's break down the shots, as we have in mind that 10-J-Q-K-A are high cards, and a "skip" is a card missing to get a straight:
